Communications
You can communicate with your members either via email or by making an annoucement.
Email your members
You can mass mail your members by click on the "email members" link. From here, you can
either email your members by username or by email address from all or specific statuses
and from all or specific account types.
The benefit of email your members by username is that you can parse personal information
such as username, password, first name, last name, etc so that it is more personalized and
impressive. However, it will take more server power and hence longer time to process.
Email by email address is quicker since no personal information is parsed.
After clicking on an email type you will be presented with the email form screen.
In the first screen you will see the usernames separated by comma, the message will
go to all users in this list.
Next, you'll be able to enter an email subject.
You can either create an email template and select it using the "Load Template" facility
or enter your message text manually into the textarea. Here, you can use all tags
available in existing email templates such as "Hello [FNAME] [LNAME]" for example.
After writing your message, select whether you want to have this message sent as HTML
page or as plain text. Obviously, if you use HTML tags you want to select HTML as option.
If you are using tags in your message, you'll want to select "Full parse" choice.
Since some servers will time
out after a period of time, it is recommended to email your members by splitting them up into
smaller amounts, say 100-500 at a time.
Making announcements
You can also make new annoucements. add any announcements you may have by editing the
html template "member_panel.html". The news will be seen by members once they log into
the control panel.
